PERFORMING RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN
Some of the most beautiful music from the Broadway stage will be experienced with the Toledo Symphony. This event also features regional guest vocalists, tenor, Jake Wilder and soprano, Mary Ann Falk. Be inspired and touched by works that have set into motion some of the most beloved musical productions of our time.
A lifelong resident of Van Wert, Mary Ann began singing publicly at the age of 11 when her mother chose a Christmas song for Mary Ann to sing at their church. She has never stopped singing since that time She currently sings with the First United Methodist Senior Choir in Van Wert, is a featured soloist in the area, and sings in area choruses. For many years, she could be seen on the Van Wert Civic Theatre stage. She has appeared in four of the seven Nunsense shows. (Yes, there are seven! VWCT has done all seven in the series in order). Mary Ann has played Amnesia, Robert Anne (twice) and Hubert. Her facial expressions and diverse vocal abilities always made her Nunsense appearances an audience favorite. She has also performed as a nun in two productions of The Sound of Music. Other favorite roles include Rosabud in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Emma in Jekyll and Hyde, and Virginia in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? She has directed productions of The Music Man, Oklahoma, Godspell, The Dixie Swim Club, and Wrong Window, to name a few. Mary Ann is a former member of the VWCT Board of Trustees ,where she also co-chaired of the yearly ticket subscription drive, edited the newsletter, coordinated set and light design, acted, directed, and most recently updated the theatre’s web presence. She has won local and regional awards for acting, directing, set design, and light design. Mary Ann serves on the Programming Committee for the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio. She a member of the former Board of the Community Concert Association in Van Wert.
Although music is one of Mary Ann’s passions, it is not her profession. She majored in elementary education at Bowling Green State University where she was a member of the ACapella Choir, Women’s Chorus, Collegiate Chorale, and 1985 Summer Tour Choir. Falk received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University and did additional training at the University of Findlay in the areas of educational administration and English. She currently teaches English at Vantage Career Center in Van Wert where she also serves as Lead Teacher, a job which includes mentoring Resident Educators, assisting teachers with technology integration, planning for and implementing professional development in the areas of teacher evaluation, new learning standards, and new state assessments. She is an advocate for technology in the classroom and is often seen supporting staff and students in using Google Apps for Education and other web based learning tools. She regularly makes presentations at education and technology conferences. Currently, Mary Ann serves as a Network Regional Leader in English Language Arts for the Ohio Department of Education.
Mary Ann and her husband Joe, the media specialist at Parkway High School, live in Van Wert with their two sons Erik and Evan.
Jake Wilder is locally known tenor/teacher from right here in Van Wert. He currently holds position as Blended Services Coordinator here at First United Methodist Church's 8:15 service.
Recently, Wilder completed his studies at BGSU with a Bachelors in Music Performance and a minor in Vocal Pedagogy. While at BGSU, Wilder was in numerous productions at the BGSU College of Musical Arts as principle tenor, as well as won first place in numerous competitions, including Concerto Competition at BGSU. He's had the privilege of participating in master classes with Ann Baltz of Opera Works, L.A., Margot Garrett of Juilliard, and Frederic West. Also, while at BGSU, he studied voice privately with tenor Chris Scholl.
Hailed as a "powerful and unique timbre" by the Toledo Blade in 2011, Wilder had the pleasure of performing a two month, 64 show tour with Toledo Opera on Wheels. In 2012, he played the Caliph in Kismet at the University of Findlay. Following these performances were several positions held as principle tenor for Bern, Indiana production of Handel's Messiah, as well as two here in Van Wert.
Upcoming events include Tenor soloist in Mendelsohn's Elijah for the Bern Choral Society. Also, Wilder will be singing with the Heartland Chamber Chorale this year and touring over the tri-state area. He also has recitals coming up throughout the country.

Little Buddy is a proud Tyrannosaurus Rex living happily in the Pteranodon family nest. But, what exactly makes Buddy a part of this family, and just what will happen when he gets bigger and can't fit in the nest anymore? Buddy wants to know, so the Pteranodons decide to hop aboard the one and only Dinosaur Train and set off on an adventure across the Mesozoic to take Buddy to see his good friend King Cryolophosaurus. King's giving a big concert in Troodon Town and will be a great pal for Buddy to talk to and figure it all out. But, oh no ! King is missing! Will Buddy and the gang be able to find him in time for his concert? Just why is King hiding anyway? Will Buddy discover what makes him special and such an important part of the Pteranodon family?

Jim Henson's Dinosaur Train Live: Buddy's Big Adventure will bring the beloved stars of the hit PBS series to your hometown for the first time. From giant King to teeny Tiny, all of our friends will be brought to life in an exciting, original, musical story created just for the stage where our audience is always a part of the action. Utilizing lush projected backgrounds and vistas, magical special effects that fill the theatre, a full sized replica of the Dinosaur Train, unique hybrid puppeteered costume characters and an engaging live host, our dinosaur pals and their adventures will truly seem larger than life.

The Voices of Unity Youth Choir is a unique and exciting soulful choral group comprised of young people ages 7 to 19 from various backgrounds in the Fort Wayne community and beyond. The program's goal is to equip, educate, and empower youth for the world before them. The program prepares them to be successful leaders who will give back to their society and make a difference in their college life, adult life and in their professional careers. This program is much more than a choir. The result is a World Champion Youth Choir. They return to the Niswonger after a much celebrated concert appearance in 2011 with singer/songwriter, Livingston Taylor.
